I’ve trained dogs formally since 1973, but have only worked with search and rescue dogs since 2000, after retiring from the Federal government. My initial interest was in disaster work. Living in West Virginia, it became obvious that there is a need for trained first-responder dogs in our state, so, I’ve helped organize the West Virginia Disaster Dog Association, Inc. And, my English Springer Spaniel, Rascal, and I have become members of Pennsylvania Task Force 1 out of Harrisburg, PA.
While attending various training seminars, I’d seen a few people with quick-release collars and or collar/leash combinations. Finding one for myself was difficult, so I just decided to put my old leatherworking tools back to work and make one for myself. Well, you know how it goes… Now I’m making them for you too!!
In addition to training and working my search dogs, and making leather goods, I operate a small dog boarding kennel - to help support my dog habits :-)) And, Rascal and I compete in AKC obedience and agility trials. In addition to training and working my search dogs, and making leather goods, I operate a small dog boarding kennel - to help support my dog habits :-)) |
